The American Taliban
Now i know this website is a bit biased. It doesn't exactly quote these people well enough to be sure these statements are true and the use of a term like "American Taliban" does seem to be a bit much. However, I think such a term does seem fitting. Most of these quotes (or supposed quotes) are of a nature of christian dominance in the policy of the United States government. So really it's similiar to the "Taliban" in the promotion basically of a strict theocratic state. Yet, the big difference though is that these are words from certain people and not exactly actions, for the most part. What do you think of these "quotes"? "Factual" or "Not" in belonging to whom they're lined up with? What do you think of these people? Are these people (or is anyone) hijacking christianity? Would it be hijacking like the Taliban and Al Qaeda have doen to Islam, or are these people just like the average christian poster on this forum? np: Nevermore- Final Product |

Sorry, I didn’t see the link.
This seems like a leftist paranoia page designed to vilify the Christian right. The quotes are all taken out of context and carefully selected to make a point. Likening Christians here to the Taliban is a cheap shot and indicative of the gross exaggeration and paranoia of that site. We have a separation of church and state here in America. However, I see nothing wrong with our elected officials making decisions based on the principals of their faith. If that is threatening to some people I suggest they get over it. I'd like to know how accurate those quotes are, Ulver, and the context they were made in. Some of them (most of them) are pretty scary.

If we take these quotes as true, then I think that most of them represent an extremism not found in the average Christian in America.

Interesting how Christianty breeds as much hate as it does. I would love to get some of the chrisitans perspective sometime on another thread when there is more time, as to why their religion's paradigm and philosophy is such an amicable host so some of the most hateful people the current world will ever know.

I'm in agreement with both matters. I'm unusre of how accurate these quotes are. A friend of mine linked me to it and I though it would be interesting to post it here, yet I certainly hold some matter of skepticism to holding this as being totally accurate of these people. On the other hand what is being said is indeed very bothering and a bit sickening. Personally, I do think there's some accuracy in that I've heard on tv and read in the paper some similiar statements from those people mentioned on this site. np: Pink Floyd- The Dogs of War Last edited by Ulver; 08-20-2005 at 02:52 AM. |

Well, that's just...charming.
I must say, this one made me laugh though: "The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians." Of course, that's exactly what it is...
