Default If Karl Rove were a democrat

Republicans from all branches of government, and all around the country, and pundits throughout the media would be calling for his execution. Not for his firing, not for imprisonment, but for his execution. But, things being the way they are, the debate seems to center around whether he should get in trouble at all. It's an interesting double standard.

I think Republicans would be calling his outing of a CIA agent "treasonous".

I think if Rove was a democrat, the democrats would be screaming that be is being villified before all the facts are in. And they would be right. I think it is funny how democrats are so eager to crucify everyone in the administration, based upon little more than some reporting. Let's not forget that there is a special prosecutor assigned byt the White House, who is doing a pretty good job of getting to the bottom of this. It is he who first released the information that the leak might have come from Rove. Why can't you guys wait until all of the evidence is in?

Kind of like how everyone waited until all the evidence for WMDs was in?

I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist.

Don't be. You are right. The American people showed a lot of patience on that issue, and when they were not found in the amount that we were told there would be, we had a right to be angry. Now what would happen if everyone in American had called for impeachment and the next day we found a ton or buried chemical weapons? We would look pretty stupid, right? I think the same thing goes for this or any situation involving people convicting before a clear picture of what happened is given. After all, everyone has a right to innocence until proof of guilt, don't they?

First of all, I'm not calling for his execution. But let's be honest, we are all now aware that Rove outted a CIA agent, and that is a serious crime. If you want to argue that he did it as a result of his incompetence, rather than because of malicious political retaliation, feel free to do so. If that's the case, perhaps he should merely be fired, and I'm sure that this possibility will be looked in to. One could argue about Rove's intent, but it is no longer sensible to argue about the end results of what he has done (outing a CIA agent). My point is that regardless of whether this was the result of Rove's incompetence, or criminal intent, he should at the very least be fired. But instead he is being portrayed as a victim, and the party ranks have closed behind this absurd and laughable argument that they cannot speak about, or have an opinion about an ongoing investigation.

After watching a public tv special on Karl Rove, I have to admit to being a tad prejudiced since he is the mastermind behind Bush's political career. However, I haven't heard enough evidence to say that he really did do the actual outing. I caught the tail end of an interview with either the reporter or the publication that printed the outing and this guy said that Rove did not actually come out and tell him. He just sort of confirmed that she was in a roundabout way.

The thing that gets me is that this man is not an idiot by any means...so why did he slip at just this moment?

You know, this isn't the first time Rove has run his fat mouth.

Quote:
After dropping out of the University of Utah, Karl Rove began his political career with the College Republicans, which he chaired from 1973 to 1974. For the next few years, he worked in various Republican Party circles and assisted George H. W. Bush's 1980 vice-presidential campaign. He was fired from the campaign however, for leaking information to the journalist Robert Novak.

Quote:
In 1986, just before a crucial debate in the election for governor of Texas, Karl Rove announced that his office had been bugged by the Democrats. It was later claimed that Rove had bugged his own phone to garner media coverage. [3]

In 1992, Rove was fired from George H. W. Bush's 1992 presidential re-election campaign for allegedly leaking information to journalist Robert Novak. State campaign manager Robert Mosbacher had allotted Rove only one-quarter of the campaign's $1 million direct mail contract, after Rove had the entire contract in 1988. As Novak wrote, "Also attending the session was political consultant Karl Rove, who had been shoved aside by Mosbacher". Novak's column described the firing of Mosbacher by former Senator Phil Gramm.

Novak and Rove deny that Rove was the leaker. Mosbacher maintains that "Rove is the only one with a motive to leak this. We let him go. I still believe he did it."

You can't make hilarity like that up.

That's my point. You have made a judgement based on no admisable evidence. Once again the hypocracy of the left shines forth like a beacon of incompetence. Thank you for that.

Besides, a fair reading of what transpired, indicates that Rove did not know that the status of Wilson's wife was a covert one.

Nothing in the Cooper e-mail suggests that Rove used Plame's name or knew she was a covert operative.
Of course you are trying to crudify him. Don't pee and my head and tell me it's raining. You don't care about the evidence and neither do most liberal. You just care about making a villain out of as many conservatives and Bush admins as possible.
