Why is the U.S.A. still in Iraq? (blood, hell)

They have to protect their money making ventures (oil). If they pull out Iraq will descend into chaos and oil production will suffer. Money makes the world go round.

Tawn and Jewscout - you are cynics (although I must admit that I am using my definition of cynic - a pessimistic realist - rather than one who knows the price of everything, but the value of nothing). So, sadly, I have to agree - but I hope that Lady L is also right, and that there is a genuine wish not to leave the Iraquis in the mess that we have jointly put them.

cynic or no, regardless of what rose-colored spin we choose to put on this situation, we have to ask ourselves to what ends did W. feel the need to enter into Iraq.
i'm just looking at it from a real politik view, what greater national interests did W. think this war and our presense in Iraq would serve? I truely believe he thinks he's doing the right thing for America (whether or not i agree is another issue all together...)

I think Bush is bordering on being the next Hitler, who also thought he was doing the right thing.
