Mark Felt is the former Deputy Director of the FBI who earlier this week announced that he was the Deep Throat of Watergate fame. Some people say he was a hero for helping reporters from the Washington Post expose Richard Nixon's coverup. Others say he was a "snake" and a "traitor". What do you think? Hero or traitor?

not just fraud but corruption and law-breaking at the very top of the Government.
If he had done this in any other country (or to a democrat) the conservitives would be calling him a hero. He happined to catch a Republican administration. I think, considering who he was dealing with, the times and the level of the crimes involved, that he was very brave for what he did. We may never have lerned of the crimes being commited had he not spoken up. As for keeping his identity a secret, it was the only safe and logical thing to do. wa:do

I do not think he was a hero or traitor. He did his job.

Well, I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Personally, I don't trust that his sole motivation was to keep America safe. He had been passed over for the FBI directors spot. He was working for Nixon, even though he was admittedly a Kennedy man. He leaked information about an ongoing FBI investigation (that's a federal crime), and as Deputy Director he could have easily had an indictment brought forth on the "crimes" that Nixon supposedly committed (which he was never convicted of, or impeached because of). I don't think the guy was a hero. He just came out now because the statute of limitation for interfering with an ongoing federal investigation is up, and the release of information document he had to sign when he left is expired. So, there is nothing he can be convicted of. Plus he is 91, and who would throw a 91 year old in jail.
Then again, if G. Gordon Liddy doesn't like the guy, then maybe he is not so bad. Dangit, I had my mind made up and then I just had to go and watch Scarborough Country, didn't I.
