Almost Beleiveable?? (coffins, America, pagan, sin, bless)

Im going to sample from the Anti-Flag song "Anatomy of your enemy"
This song is highly intense sience they are raging anti-americans, but i find some of it very true. Im going to post some of the steps that i thaught were very close to the truth:


2. be sure the enemy you have chosen is nothing like you.
Find obvious differences like race, language, religion, dietary habits
fashion. Emphasize that their soldiers are not doing a job,
they are heartless murderers who enjoy killing!

4. Have the media broadcast only the ruling party's information
this can be done through state run media.
Remember, in times of conflict all for-profit media repeats the ruling party's information.
Therefore all for-profit media becomes state-run.

6. Eliminate opposition to the ruling party.
Create an "Us versus Them" mentality. Leave no room for opinions in between.
One that does not support all actions of the ruling party should be considered a traitor.

8. Align all actions with the dominant deity.
It is very effective to use terms like, "It is god's will" or "god bless our nation."

9. Design propaganda to show that your soldiers
have feelings, hopes, families, and loved ones.
Make it clear that your soldiers are doing a duty; they do not want or like to kill

Now two fo the steps that i thaught were very rational are 2 and 4. Now obviously the enemy will most likely be foreign, but its true, media broadcast our soldiers as men doing a "Duty" to their country and that the "Insurgents" are ruthless terrorist. 4. Now the opposing forces media is broadcasted in the Iraq war(Al-jazeria) But Its true that if you disagree with what the media broadcasts you are labled a traitor or were i live(MY favorite A Liberal.

6. Six is also very contridicting. In our case the WTC's kinda made it a us versus them automatically. But i felt destroying bagdahd was not just to find saddam, but also an act of Brute force ro revenge.

8. 8 is a little easy to rip on, only because poiliticians end there speeched with "God Bless America" This, in a way, makes us look selfish, god bless our nation, our people our soldiers!

9. Nine is my favorite. Everyday on the news i see "Soldiers come home! Soldiers rejoined with loved ones!" Now i am really happy when soldiers come home(were they belong) But what about the "Enemy"? Dont htey have wives or children they are also defending their country..right?

Coming from someone who has met and talked (and hugged! squeee!) to Justin of Anti-Flag at great length, please refrain from calling them "raging anti-Americans" as it's simply not true.

You don't know how many times I've wanted to quote that song, and many others, on the boards here.

It's strange that, in these days, one can be against one's administration while still being quite patriotic.

Our soldiers do have feelings, hopes, and loved ones. If I'm against any propaganda, it's the one that's not allowing us to see the coffins of these same soldiers.

Sorry I'm touchy, Justin's one of the nicest guys I've met.

So why in our media our soldiers are portrayed as loving family members whod rather be home. What for the "Insurgents" doing the same duty for their country?

marguk, i have never heard of this band before but i must say, they sound cool. i totally agreed with the all of what you posted from their song. that is excatly how it works, and the masses buy it hook line and sinker. i think it is our duty as americans to question our governments actions when we don't agree with them. in my fathers time the big saying was america love it or leave it. or don't question, just do what your president tells you to do. anyone who didn't agree was an unpatroic tratior. and it is funny how they still try that same logic now with this war on "turrost"
