Well,
I for one feel we should repeal the Death Penalty. It has outlived it's usefulness as a deterrent. As for her conversion being merely fire insurance, that is between her and God. He knows certainly what we can only speculate.

I am seeing quite a bit of "save a christian" and "christians don't shed blood" and my mind is reeling!
On the first...what makes the "saving" of a Christian on death row so much more important than say, a Buddist or a Jew??? or any other religious person for that matter??? Would you be so up in arms if she were to profess her total conversion to the worship of Allah and became a muslim??? or any other deity? What if she was to admit that she was an athiest but was TRULY sorry for the crime that she committed? Where does your basis for clemency start and where does it end??? On the second...you don't EVEN want me to go there!!!!!! Someone of every religion has done horrendous things and shed another's blood, but the wars, crusades, and religious persecution deemed by the Maleus Malificarum, along with other atrocities that Christians in the past have been guilty of then who are you to judge and say that "Christians don't shed blood"??? Everyone has and does and the Christian churches throughout time have sponsored more than their fair share. Try reading another book other than the bible...not like it doesn't have quite a bit of bloodshed in it anyway.

Is it mercy to let a woman who is brain dead spend 15 years in a coma? Is it mercy to allow her suffering to continue? I think not..

I was not painting with a broad brush and I am sorry if it seemed that way to you. My response was mostly directed at Dr. Kahn's post where he seemed so adamant that it was necessary on the part of the president and the government to "save a Christian" on death row. My point was to say that it should be the same for everyone...whether or not the death penalty is the sentence or not...one's sentence should not be adjusted for the reason of conversion...to Christianity or any other religion. I simply ask if he would feel the same if she were to have converted to any other religion or what.
Understand?

It is not known but could be significant how many murders are detered by the death penalty.

Shame on every person in Mass who voted for Kerry.
Liberal left. I personally think that political parties are rediculous. Instead of having their own opinions on what's right, they just try to have the opposite opinion of the other. They want to polarize America so much that it's rediculous. The republicans swing the doggie-door too far to the right, while the liberals do it too far to the left. I'm surprised the thing hasn't fallen off yet. If people stepped back and thinked what is best for this country rather than what's worst for my opponent, I guarantee this would be a better place for all of this. Some things I am liberal, some things conservative. I am shocked more moderates or independents aren't in power, I truely respect their stance that political parties are polarizers, not "helpers". Republicrat!
