The Dried-Up Leaves Lay Broken On
The dried-up leaves lay broken on The sidewalk in the cloudy dusk. I walk among their restless shades That smell of rusted autumn musk. I sometimes wish that death would stop And contemplate the rosy dawn. I often wonder what it would find Inside that foggy, dusty mind. O! that Nature would envelope me In dances underneath the rowan tree. O! that I would dare to defy The cars that go streaming by. I wander through mists of gray, That smell of recently spread manure. I know that Nature has secrets there, But her essence is demure.

Hey I like that GC. For some reason it reminds me of ying and yang achieving balance. Bitter-sweet.
Added: I'm out of karma. My karmic debt is getting rather large! ![]()

It is meant to have a bitter sweet mood. I wrote it to describe the indescribable sense of beauty that I find in autumn; that sort of melancholy sweetness where life and death are in balance. That's probably where you get the yin and yang from!
