The Embroidered Bridge By Nashia Kapidzic-Hadzic ![]() ![]() If you ever come to the city of leaves You will be our dearest guest You will see how grass-covered banks Hold a bridge The bridge is embroidered with silky thin thread Woven of seven colors The green river is a mirror in which it looks It is decorated with a sunny day The wind carries boats Along sandy shores Lightning bugs fly above it Shining in the dark Under the bridge there is a miraculous Orchestra of summer And two crickets, singing in a duet Filling the night with their Most beautiful song in the world If you ever come to the city of leaves You will be our dearest guest You will cross with light steps The embroidered, fragile bridge
