Remember the night we drove through snow
Down to Canyon City? You were ****** at Jeff again, And wanted to play chicken with the trucks While thinking yourself in love with the one who hit you. But we got to the pool at any rate Where you stripped like a girl of too few years Cheating on her mother Then lowered your brokenness into the naked water, A sad eyed waif of nineteen and still satin skin. Did you really believe, Suzanne, in the man and his love? You never bothered to cry that night or any other, But confusion seeped from your skin Into the weariness I swam in beneath the cold.

You sound like you have a careing heart. If Suzanne and this poem are real. Then she is lucky to have you. Keep posting your work. Nice imagery. I'll post some of my very old stuff some time today or tomorrow.
Good work keep it up.

Thank you for your kind words, Mystic!
Suzanne is indeed real, as are the events in the poem. Fortunately, she is no longer with the abusive Jeff, although she did wind up having two children by him before she left him for good. She and I are still good friends and "road trip buddies". I am very excited that you're going to post some of your work!
