Bereft of Hope
I’ve died inside a hundred times over unreciprocated appreciation, Yeah, I’ve died inside a hundred times over pleas for your affection. Well, you’re never minding your phone and it rings on its’ own, As I, alone on my side, sit like a victor denied my due rights. Anxiety has captured me, it rules me throughout the lingering and derelict night. I can’t stand the quiet, it’s louder than hell, it’s violent, it’s messy, I’m sinking into my shell. My home is so deep inside me, that no one can find me, Undiscovered I weather the storms that strike lightening around me, Yes, Lightning strikes twice, And time strangles me and the future suffocates me and my memory chases after me And I can’t escape the anxiety and the sadness is overwhelming. As for my sanity, it sleeps with the angels and elves, In a land where gods dwell, so mighty and disinterested. I’ve cast myself down and scuttled my faith for silence, Down this utterly abandoned road I tow my tenderness and grief, And somewhere buried underneath is a seed of ceremony, Of glory and release. I try to nourish this hope inside me, But the rain never comes in time, the sun’s flame withers everything, And while the world runs along on angel’s wings, and sings “peace on earth to men”, This common pain, this overwhelming sadness still remains. Everything reminds me of these anxious days I slave away inside in agony. So I slave away in agony bereft of hope, beset by my anxiousness that lingers longer than eternity.
