Forgive me...all this talk of love lately (and a couple beers), has me in a sentimental mood, so I thought I'd share this one.
Love and Water I'm standing on the water's edge, You're on the other side. The river banks are far apart, The water rushing wide. I want to go across to you; A path is clear to see. But the stone are wet, Yet all the while you're beckoning to me. I start to cross, then hesitate; The fear, it stays my feet. What if I fell? What would I do? But you're saying words so sweet... And I wonder if I fell for you, Would you jump right in for me? Would you hold my head above the waves, And would you drown in love for me? But what if you watch me swept away, Your feet safe on solid ground. The water swirling, I drown on my own But your heart don't make a sound. I look across and our eyes meet, You smile and shout my name... I want to jump in, come what may - Could I really be that game? Deep breath, a step, then two and three; You wave from where you are. My foot slips off, but I hold on; It doesn't seem so far... I step again, and then once more, My rock begins to shake. My foot slips off - but what the hell, It's a chance I'll have to take. If a couple of beers could help me write such a good poem, I'd happily stay drunk for a week. Good work, Bastet!

LOL! I wasn't drunk when I originally wrote it (over 3 years ago), just when I posted it last night.
![]() Thanks for the compliments, guys. ![]()
