what i understand is...

IQ is similiar to money. money gets its characteristic from where it spent. i mean, with some money you can buy weapons to kill and yet with the same amount of money you can save lives. money on its own has no intention.

to me intellect is the same. could be used for exact opposite directions. it is up to person. hopefully conscience speaks.

When I think about intellect that has no personality, I think of Data. He could have a conversation, but he couldn't laugh, smile, couldn't get the punch line of a joke, didn't know how to do small talk and so on.

I think I agree with Stellify. The intellect is indeed a powerful thing. It has helped us as humans get to the point where we are, and is what separates us from other species. Ain't much else that can do that. (aside from DNA )

Now, as for no personality, I can also agree. All the intellect in the world doesn't let me empathise with anyone, it doesn't let me share a joke with my best friend. Actually, if all we had was intellect, we wouldn't have "friends"!!!

I think if we were to lose intellect we'd be better off than if we were to lose personality.

St. Thomas Aquinas and Augustine pondered over the qustion of whether Intelligence is a single thing or a product of multiplicity (inside many bodies at once). This was a response to the church's view that all thoughts came from 2 sources:God or Satan. Personality in this respect is kind of incidental and constantly in flux. This transient sense of personality is how I see it too--we have many different personalities depending on any given situation. I also don't view Intelligence as being spread around indiscriminately and multiplied infinitely.
