What is the realtion between metaphysics and reality? When it comes down to it, is there such a thing as 'reality' outside of metaphysics at all, and if there is, what is it, if there can be such a question outside of metaphsyics?
All answers will be appriciated

Modern Metaphysics is kind of weird. For the most part, people put an awful lot of energy in trying to define how reality works in the abstract. Of course, no one outside of science has yet demonstrated that our abstracts can explain reality. I mean, we're still struggling with concepts like gravity and blackholes.
Reality is awfully complicated and I don't think that language and categories can completely capture it.

[quote=Willamena]Metaphysics is a philosophy that defines basic axiomatic principles about existence, such as "Existence exists".

But if metaphysics relation to reality is solely that it encompasess us, then there must be something that were building on, something thats not human, since we can believe whatever we please but cant do whatever we want. What you said was a truism. I dont think i understand the last bit though, it came across to me as contradictory. If reality is an ideal of existance, and is therefore metaphysical, yet there is a basic logic that follows that shows reality is there. I agree with the last sentence of radio freqency, our human concepts dont apply to reality

Physics creates a mind capable of thought. In fact, capable of multiple thoughts simultaneously. Because these thoughts can occur simultaneously, an experience of value is created as the thoughts are related to each other. The experience of value creates the concept of an ideal value which seems to transcend the mechanisms of physics that created it. Thus, we have found a need to define a category of intellectual investigation called "metaphysics".

I think the meathodology of metaphyics is one predicated upon unevidencable belief. Any decisions one makes forms the reality around them. If a person prays to God and finds solice and fullfillment in doing such than a corrleation is precieved and further actions are contingent upon that percieved correlation. That makes the event percieved by the partipant.
That is true for any reaction to a precieved correlation. For instance if you are blind and I tell you your shirt is blue and you feel you need to color coordinate. In selecting a tie you will likely ask for one to coordinate with blue. The belief being that (a) I am honest to you about your tie, and (b) the tie is blue. (c) you need to color coordinate If an object or entity is percived to exist and the perciever reacts based on that perception than a reality is created. For instance, if a man wants to cheat on his wife but does not because he is fearful of burning in hell than his belief predicated a phycial reaction--of abstinence which makes it a notion of reality. However, say for some bizarre reason his belief was the exact opposite and he believed or whatever reason that not sleeping with this woman whom he is not married too would result in eternal damnation. If he acts upon that sentiment copulating with her than he has again created a reality from his perception. Metaphsyics itself is based on non testable ideas and entites however, the actions resulting from the beliefs of those who accept these perceptions create a physical reality. Therefore I would say metaphyics is a reality in as much as it percieved to be and acted upon to affect the life of an indivdual and those around him/her.
