I was just wondering if any of you practitioners out there had any tried and true House Cleansing spells or rituals? I've got a couple Reiving rituals, but they're basically for cleansing a home of simple negative energies and a close friend of mine has been bothered, for some time now, by many entities, both negative and neutral, invading his home and has asked me if I could somehow manage to banish them for him and cleanse his home.
I'll gladly do it, of course, but sadly, my BOS doesn't have any sort of Cleansing or banishing spells powerful enough for this sort of thing (as I've said, I merely have Reiving rituals). I'm hoping one of you could possibly help me in some way. We would both appreciate it. Thank you muchly.

Our Buddhist Bishop cleansed my home; he used salt, rice and sake. We placed a sheet of clean white paper on the floor in each room, then sprinkled on a pinch of salt and a few grains of rice, and then a few drops of sake. He also led prayers, which unfortunately I do not have copies of, as we went through the house. He also made sure that we had open windows for the spirits to leave through as we did so.
I think what he was doing has more of its roots in Japanese Shinto than in Buddhism, but it was quite interesting nonetheless.

If you have access to sage or sweetgrass (and are able to burn them) a feather (especially in a bundle), and a seashell, you could smudge the house.
Hold the shell in one hand, representing water. Put the sage on the shell, where it will represent earth. Lighting the sage, naturally, brings in fire, and then begin to use the feather(s) to sweep the smoke from the burning sage around the house (the feather representing air). Do this in as close to a clockwise direction as possible. Please let me know if that helps! I also like to take a bell, or a singing bowl around the house afterward. Any areas where extra clensing is needed will result in the tone of the instrument being lower, or duller.

I apologize for posting in your thread, but I must admit this is all very fascinating to me. My religion too has a blessing similar to purifying a home. It's fascinating to see how the different beliefs all treat the home as a special place.

Don't apologize Nutshell! You're more than welcome to be here if it's in the interest of learning or understanding
![]() Thank you Feathers! I will definitely try that as soon as I get that chance and let you know the results. Tell me though, do you think the Sage or the Sweetgrass would give me better results or are they both about the same? Thank you muchly as well, Engyo. The more options I have, the better.

Myself, I prefer sage. Some say it smells like... err... an illegal substance, though, when it burns, but it should dissapate soon enough.
Another option is to, if you have a ritual broom, use that to 'sweep' out all the negativity. My personal method is to start in the east and then work clockwise to the north, but do it however Spirit moves you! ![]()

It DOES smell like that illegal substance when burning, hahaha, I've used Sage before for rituals. Didn't end well while I was still living with the parentals.
Thank you! I think I'll try a combination of all you and Engyo have posted, as well as finishing off with a ritual Reiving, just to be sure.
