Who said there was any proof? I hold the beliefs I do simply because of my own personal gnosis and subjective experiences.

Yep, I can see that it is silly to try and prove a god's existence, but for people who do indeed believe that deities are there, there has to be some personal proof, or individual experience that would be the basis of that belief. What kind of experiences would those be?

At the risk of sounding cheeky.....they are personal. And while they are very meaningful for me, I seriously doubt anyone else would find they have the same impact for them. So bantering them about really isn't something I do.

Now I am an agnostic and heres my view on god taken from my journal and posted under my old name ALifeTimeToWait... that they discontinued sad day , but I will also give you the reasons my mother believes and other family members believe.

I have seen many comments and why God exists to many of you and many of you seem to be trying to explain the unexplainable. Dont get me wrong i believe in god and i am not trying to debate, but my understanding is a little off the beaten trail. As i have searched through the mountains and valleys of my mind and our world, i have realized a couple of humble truths. Nothing can come from nothing and that everything is intertwinded in a cosmic brilliance and harmony. I believe that god is every bit of star dust, every atom, every twinkle in a childs eye. I also believe that the reason that many of the great traditions, i.e. the judo-christian view of God the all powerful and all knowing, has equated us to being made in the image of God is because we know the truth, that we have found the most profound way of messing up this balance, this cycle. Making us the closest thing to Godly out there. We dont realize how interconnected we are and are selfish in our quest to understand, because we are scared.

My mother was going into early labor and the doctor made an exam and was trying to stop the labor. He said that my lungs weren't developed enough and if I was born I would die. My mom was in a horrible situation and what do you do you pray if your a Christian. She heard steps coming down the hall like thunder and saw a shining light and voice that said "Do not be afraid I am with you." Next I was born with fluid in my lungs and I wasn't suppose to make it. She got on the phone with every church she had ever been to set up prayer groups nation wide to pray for me and I miraculously made it through. Third my cousin suffers from a degenerative lung disorder called Cystic Fibrosis he was on a waiting list for new lungs. Moments after he told my aunt he wasn't going to make it she prayed and prayed and prayed and behold a call came and the lungs were implanted that day. Amazing things happen in a subjective sense sometimes a deeper impact is made that makes you have faith beyond a reasonable doubt.
