This article I do agree with. People should be capped at how long they can live off the system, unless they have valid reasons for staying on assistance, such as a real disability. It's because of the welfare poor (or welfare whores as they are called in my area) that people who do work that just need alittle help from time to time can't get any. I remember for a short period of time for about 1 month and a half to two months, work had slowed way down for me and SS, and all we could afford to eat was very cheap food, of which spaghetti, rice, or a can of soup was a frequent meal.
To an extent, I even agreed with the other article. He seemed to go little too far with some of the attached strings though.

Yes he did go a bit too far. In our town, we have a food bank. The thing is, the food we give away is food that requires cooking.

There was a time in my life when I was sick and could not work, that I went to a food bank myself. I remember what it is like and I said back then to myself that when I got better, I was going to give back to this program. I have participated in food programs ever since.

SW, I can tell from your posts that you are going to be sucessful in your life. The main reason I believe this is because of your work ethic.

Welfare queens are not the only ones who mooch, lets not forget their boyfriends who eat their children's food and contribute nothing to their families to help out. .

Our church helps folks who slip through the cracks as well. We take up what we call love offerings for them.

People like mball act like we just don't care about people who are down and out. That is the furthest from the truth.

The difference between us is, I believe we can help folks on a local level much better than big government ever could.

But why does your church take up love offerings for people who slip through the cracks? Surely you don't think pooling resources is more efficient. Couldn't you help people on an individual basis much better than your church ever could?

According to my religion, I can recieve glory here on earth or glory in heaven. The thing is, I believe you can't have both for the same deed.

I contribute time and meat to the local food pantry. I built a battered women's shelter. I receive glory for that here on earth and will not receive any glory in heaven for these causes.

As far as the individual basis, I cannot comment if I want any glory in heaven too.

I'm not asking you to boast about your good deeds. I'm asking why your church pools resources. Why does anybody pool resources?

Why should there be such a thing as a church pantry? Can't people help their neighbors better on an individual basis without devoting time and resources to running a church pantry?

Why should there be any such thing as a women's shelter? Can't people take women who need shelter into their homes much better on an individual basis? Isn't it a waste of time and resources to have a shelter when people can do these things on their own?

Why are you assisting with these charitable infrastructures? Don't you see how wrong that is? Don't you see how wasteful it is?
