I'm proud my home state is helping pave the way for gay people's rights.

Good. I don't believe that democracy is appropriate when it comes to enforcing and deciding upon the rights of a minority because that can lead to prejudiced laws.

Why bother with voting? Let the judges decide. Democracy is too cumbersome.

This is good. Nobody should be able to hinder another's happiness in any way. I mean, where do we get the right to judge someone else's life and what they want to do with it? "But God says that marriage should be between a man and a woman", some will say.....No. Incorrect. Your mental image of what God should believe and what the ancient people thought that God should believe said that. Not God, if there is such a thing.

Democracy has never been a good guarantor of minority rights. That's why our Founders, in their wisdom, did not create a democracy, but a Republic with checks and balances -- in part to protect the rights of minorities against the tyranny of majorities. You might benefit from reading the Federalist Papers, if you have not already done so. If you do, you will see that what I've stated is the truth of the matter.
