Here's an interesting one for McCain I heard about today:
Michael S. Steele - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Obama: Jim Webb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Let's see if my guesses were correct!

I was going to suggest Jim Webb for Obama.

You all are not thinking this one through. If I was a Black man running for President, I would pick Louis Farrakhan for V.P. That way, I would not get shot or impeached. That might sound crazy, but George W. Bush sure made a good choice. Look how well it worked for him!

By that logic, Rick, Crazy Train McCain should choose Charles Manson.

I ought to be vice president.
Its not like they do all that much besides attract voters. |

I think Al Gore would be a good VP for Obama. It probably won't happen though. And I haven't bothered to check up on who is in the pool for potential VP's. It might not be a bad idea though, since Obama or Hillary being elected they probably have a much higher risk of being assassinated than anyone else.

JIm Webb wouldn't be a bad choice. I like Russ Feingold more than any other Senator, but Feingold might be more valuable as a Senator than as Vice President. And Virginia has a Democratic governor, so we wouldn't have to worry about him naming a Republican successor to Webb in the Senate.

I think a priority should be given to finding someone with a strong record on military and foreign affairs, and Sen. Webb as former Secretary of the Navy, decorated Vietnam vet, and a Marine, fits that bill nicely. He's also tough as nails. Gen. Wesley Clark would also be a good veep, but is an avowed Clinton supporter. Though if she pulls off a miracle and gets the nomination, a Clinton/Clark ticket would be excellent. As for McCain, he needs somebody who excites the GOP base a little so they can better utilize the social "conservative" GOTV system that's been set up over the last 30 years. Second priority is getting someone a little younger. The worst thing they can do is have two really crusty old white men as their ticket. Maybe Mel Martinez (though he's no spring chicken), the Senator from Florida. Though he just won Bob Graham's old seat a little over a year ago. He's Cuban, "conservative" and Catholic.
