Very good question. Hopefully Obama is going to say what changes he believes in during tonight's debate (2-21). Obama vs. Hilary (broadcasting from UT Austin Texas). Should be a good one. Hilary seems to be letting it slip away. Obama is winning the Democrat nomination.

As I said, he does speak of policy and issues. You're not listening.

The only part of Obama's policy which can be considered idealistic is his transparent government plan. I suggest you actually read his policies before spewing crap like this.

He lost some of my confidence when he talked about raising the minimum wage, and gained a little back when he talked about sex ed reform. I was skeptical when Obama got specific about ending the Iraq war, but I was pleased with his policy statements about immigration.
I don't know what the rest of you are listening to, but whenever I hear a candidate, I listen for issues, and I add that to what I already know. I hear all the candidates blowing smoke, but I hear them all talking about issues, too. To hear these things, I recommend that you listen carefully; listen like you are considering voting for the person...and listen to NPR. ![]()

It depends on which debate. The sit down debate right before Super Tuesday was all about policy issues and detailed explanations of plans from both candidates. Not all of the debates have been that way for him, and for obvious reasons - for TV he prefers the rhetorical approach to the policy wonk approach . . . and that's working very well for him while the opposite is NOT working well for Hillary. His positions on issues have been available at his website for several months for anyone who wants to see them.
Frankly, in a debate about the details of policy for people that are following things closely, Hillary will tend to beat him because she's just better on the details. Policy wonkiness is her thing. But that's not necessarily the best way to use television.

Obama kicked Hillary's butt in the Texas debate tonight. I will give credit where credit is due.
I look forward to the McCain Obama debates.
