I've got a Dilbert book on business around somewhere. In it, he claims that at least 10% of the population will be the potential market for your product, no matter how useless or awful it is, because:

- 5% of people are crazy
- 5% of people will buy any damn thing

Could be something similar going on. The extra 9% might be all the people who would vote for Vlad the Impaler or a komodo dragon if they were against abortion and same-sex marriage.

Yes, because clearly the most important quality of a US president should be how good he looks. Though John Kerry does look allot Gomer Pile, Bush is the one with the same mental capacity as the character minus the moral fiber, so which choice was really worse again?

Kerry had a lot of problems besides his appearance. He was milquetoast on the Iraq occupation. His public persona was a focus group confabulation constructed by out of touch Beltway insiders - the same people who gave the same bad advice to Al Gore and now Hillary Clinton. The problem for all three is they were too calculated and came across as "inauthentic." When in fact, all three are very bright and very personable when they aren't being over-handled.
