But God did have a problem with it and its expressed in the New Testament.

Modern Slavery was not the Slavery of 2000 years ago where most slaves were temporary and often only slaves to pay off a debt (indentured servants). Slaves of the 1800s were slaves for life because of the color of their skin.

God had a big problem with that.

And Huckabee is right - the word of God will not change, so either the Constitution reflects that power or the people will try and destroy God...so far it has been the later.

That is really scary. I forget who, but someones signature on here says something like, 'the only thing worse than a bad man is a religious bad man.' No one should vote for a flaming wannabe religious-politician. The two just don't go together, although John Edwards seems to be okay so far, but I wouldn't label him a flamer like Huckabee.

Huckabee's comments are disgusting, IMO.

HOWEVER, changing the Constitution is not as easy as he makes it sound.

Step 1: Get 2/3 of one house of Congress to pass an amendment.
Step 2: Get 2/3 of the other house to agree.
Step 3: Get 3/4 of the states to ratify.

Very, very difficult - hence, America has the common law (court interpretations).
