I swear, if this man is elected President I really am going to move back to Canada. I'm not kidding.

Whose God? and whose standards?
Theravada Buddhist standards? LDS standards? "God's standards" couldn't be more ambiguous. The US was founded during The Enlightenment as an experiment in Radical Humanism. The Wars of Religion were fresh in the minds of our founding fathers, as were our own restricted communities, religious exclusion laws, witch hangings, blasphemy laws, &c. Few people in our modern, ecumenical society can conceive of the religious strife, violence and intolerance that existed a few centuries ago. Why would Mr Huckabee want to return to that turbulent, bloody time? Has he no knowledge of history? This proposal is as flagrantly anti-American as you could get! |

My first reaction on reading the OP was that it must be mistaken but no, he really said it:

My second reaction: American politics have really gone to Hell that a candidate could say this and still be taken seriously. The crackpots have taken over the system.

Huckleberry is a marginalized moron. It is good to see his "thinking" coming out of the closet before people get too entranced by his charm. Mit Romney is, by far, the best Republican candidate, imho.

I think Mike is a tremendous fellow, but I will not vote for him. There is a big fat red line between obeying God and passing laws forcing others to obey him. The function of the executer of the law is not to decide what should be done, but to do the will of the people. I agree with his position on abortion, but that has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with morality. GO NAVY.

Hopefully it will destroy his campaign.
I doubt it will unless he keeps bringing it up. |
