To bad that most Americans either do not know about all the starving people in America, do not care about them, and/or ignore them.

What is interesting is, the Mexican folks that are here in our country are not starving despite the language barrier, their lack of education and legal status.

I find it rather disturbing how the USA will go out of its way to help a starving country thousands miles away, yet ignore those who are starving right here in the USA. But that is for another thread.

Though with all the talk of Mexicans as illegal immigrants we give barely a thought to those who are coming in illegally thru Canada. The latest case of tb over the Canada border (though I think now that the story has been a little over hyped), should indicate Canada provides a much more serious threat to security. If a terrorist wanted to come in illegally, he could find no better place than the Canada/US border. It wouldn't be that I would like the same sense of outrage and so on associated with Canada, but I think that it illustrates that a lot of the concern is more based on language and race than on security.
Actually I think that most people here illegally are here due to outstaying their visas. Hey what happened to the big "rule of law" discussion on this one! --des |
