And how exactly do you think this can happen with the internet?
Is the government supposed to censor all internet traffic from countries that do not have the same restrictions on porn?

ICANN just needs to make some rules. If you break the rules, you lose your domain. It's that simple.

I am not. The thing I am trying to figure out is how much you understand of the problems with what you propose. Do you not think it better to have as many of the already known problems worked out before you jump in or would you prefer to just jump in without any idea what you are up against first with the "justification" at least we are doing something? To me there is a huge difference between jumping into a situation blind and learning/anticipating potential problems and having at least some kind of idea of (at the very least) what to do about them if/when they do rear their ugly heads. You talk as though the USA has full control over all the internet and jurisdiction over all its users. The fact is that it doesn't.

No one could pass a bill to stop pornography on the internet. The companys just need to move to a different country and the problem is solved.
If America placed some sanction or passed some law the companys would just shrug their shoulders and move to another country to set their buisness up there. The cold hard truth is there is nothing you could do about this. Where there is this much money to be made no one will want to lose out on it.

I do not think that is what is being asked. What is being asked is move it to a different area so that we (people who don't want to see and people who have problems) don't accidently stumble upon it. How would that hurt anyone? (That question has yet to be answered by a single person). |

Actually, the USA does have control over the internet. It has unilateral control over ICANN, the organization that controls domain names. It is true that there has been pressure from the EU and the UN to give up some of that control and the government has been loosening its control, but the US government could enact these restrictions if it wanted to.

Just a thought - maybe the answer isn't moving porn to its own port. Maybe the answer is creating a "family friendly" port (a.k.a. porn free) and letting websites that want to move apply to be let into the "clean" area.

They only sponsor accredited domain name providers.
