I see there being problems in terms of catagorization, especially when it comes to ads that use sexually-suggestive material. But it will be the same as TV.

I personally see a difference beteween TV and the internet. While the TV does have sexually-suggestive material, it doesn't offer what the internet does. I will not mention it but you can click on a page not expecting to have little side-ads with women performing oral-sex. That is a bit much for me when I am expected a blog or a something else that doesn't have anything to do with sex. Personally, it would be a huge relief if we could change it -- for me and for other people who have struggled.

I actually haven't seen many of these sexually-explicit ads except on sex sites, e-mails, and the occasional guitar tab website. (Then, I'm not much of a surfer. Primarily, I'm here or looking up guitar tabs!) I imagine it must be annoying!

You are right that the internet has so much more to offer than TV. It's free information, and it can be much more educational if used correctly.

I'm sorry for the pain you and your loved ones have gone through with it, and I hope that relief comes!

I'm not advocating removing all sexual content from the internet. You don't have porn on broadcast TV. I think the same standards should apply with the Internet. If people want to have access to porn in their house, they can do so. I guess I think this is an area where we should "opt in" rather than "opt out."

Anyway, I think a lot of the damage done is through society's view on sex versus its actual treatment of sex. On the outside, we are still taught that sex is something negative, and we should feel ashamed of it, while there is this whole commercial exploitation of it going on all around.

I'm not taught that sex is negative. I'm taught that it is something wonderful and sacred, but that it is something that belongs in a marriage.

No. It's my opinion. I don't know how you would start measuring something that is so subjective anyway. Nothing good has ever come out of participating in or watching pornography. That's my opinion.

Every now and then the President of the LDS Church will read a letter someone has written to him about pornography. I think they are examples of the impact that this addiction can have on one's life.

"I would like to share something with you that I have not been able to share with anyone else. I am a 35-year-old male. For most of my adult life I have been addicted to pornography. I am very ashamed to admit this, . . . but for the most part, my addiction is as real as that of an alcoholic or a drug addict. . . .

"The main reason for my writing is to tell you that the Church can't do enough to counsel the members to avoid pornography. I was first introduced to this material as a child. I was molested by an older male cousin, and pornography was used to attract my interest. I am convinced that this exposure at an early age to sex and pornography is at the root of my addiction today.

"I think it is ironic that those who support the business of pornography say that it is a matter of freedom of expression. I have no freedom. I have lost my free agency because I have been unable to overcome this. It is a trap for me, and I can't seem to get out of it. Do you honestly think that politicians passing abill/making a law will suddenly stop internet porn?
How do you propose they enforce said bill/law?
