I'm sorry, I made an incorrect statement. Here is what I meant to say:

Protestants = 36.6%
Roman Catholics = 24.5%
Mormons = 1.3%

Hey Jonny,

The last that I checked, Canadians don't vote in the United States presidential race. Canada has a large Roman Catholic base. It is politically correct to be protestant in America.

Dude, these are statistics for the United States in a book put out by an organization that studies both countries. I'm glad to see that my posts are not the only thing that you don't read. In a weird sort of way it makes me feel better.

Reminds me of the literature the RNC mailed out in West Virginia and Arkansas claiming that Kerry would ban the Bible if elected. I look forward to the day religion is relinquished as a divisive political tool. I don't support Romney in the least, but attacking the Mormon faith is uncalled for and those who are guilty of these lame tactics should apologize immediately.

This country isn't rooted in anything. It was not founded on any form of Christianity. It was founded upon religious freedom, but even if a religion had to be chosen for its foundation, then it would be Deism, because almost all of our forefathers were in fact Deists.

Very contrary to popular belief, the U.S. is not Christian-based, so please do not make that claim. The claim can be simply refuted by the statement of our first president, George Washington, in the Tripoli Treaty:

You posted the numbers within the apparent context of the United States and Canada. That's the problem with our dialogs between evangelicals and LDS members. There's always seem to be some hidden and concealed information behind the LDS scene. The Christian is your mission field according to your link.

BT do you think that all protestants will be suffiecently biased against the LDS to ruin Mitt Romney's chanches at getting the rupublican nomination or will Giuliani's past support of abortion and multiple marriages hurt him more. I think Mitt has the advantage myself. What do you think. (I am ignoring the old debate of is the US Christian because I think there is another thread about it already. If not it is a good topic for one.)

Well that's a bit contradictory with the reference from the Tripoli Treaty that I proposed. Perhaps I'll take your point of view if you can find a forefather stating that the country is in fact Christian-based?

Because, oddly enough, there is no reference of God, the Bible, or Jesus in the Constitution or Bill of Rights, so I do not see how you have come to your conclusion that we are 'rooted in biblical Christianity'.
