Let's please get back to the Thread topic. Do you think membership to the "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" will have a positive or negative affect in a presidential race? I noticed that some of you live in Utah. My wife lived in Salt Lake City before I met her. No, she is not a converted Mormon. She used to work for the airlines and Salt Lake was her base. Living in Mormon country is not the same as living in other parts of the country, in regards to Mormonism.
I personally believe that being a Mormon will have a negative impact for a presidential candidate, since the number one religious denomination in America is Southern Baptist. I believe 85% of American adults claim to be Christians. I also believe this poll was taken within the context of orthodox Christianity as being identified as Christian (Protestant or Roman Catholic). - BT Last edited by bible truth; 05-12-2007 at 02:07 PM. |

Actualy you have your figures wrong again. The largest branch of Christianity in the united states is Catholics. http://www.adherents.com/rel_USA.html#families
Scroll down for a complete breakdown. Catholics have 24% Baptists of all types make up around 16%. Based on this information does your conclusion change?

Really, so this country is rooted in Roman Catholicism? I thought the Pilgrims were staunch Calvinist (Puritans). Oh well, I better get back to the religious section.

Look at the statistics! Today in the US Catholicism is the largest denomination of Christianity. Why are you insulted by this. It is simple statistics. The like above is not working but the one I posted above is the same data.

The protestant denominations collectively dominates the United States, is that a correct statement? - BT I calculated 36.6%, is that right? Last edited by bible truth; 05-12-2007 at 02:19 PM. |

It isn't all the same. Southern Baptists tend to carry a lot more bigotry and hatred towards Mormons than other Evangelicals.

yes 49% of Christians are members of protestant faiths. But they are not all evangelical. Some are almost Catholic in terms of dcotrine and practice. I do not think it is a fair claim to say that they will all be prejudiced against the LDS.
