I'm really bummed you made that comment. A lot of people say the same about Romney being a Mormon. |

The Mormon church tries to stay neutral on politics. Every now and then it will get involved on an issue that it really cares about, but I have never heard a leader of the church claim that since it helped a politician get elected that the politician should have to obey the church's commands. I heard that over and over again when Bush was trying to get Supreme Court Justices put into place.

Aw c'mon, Fred Thompson. The guy who plays Arthur Branch, Jack McCoy's boss on Law and Order. The straight-talkin,' common sense, dude with just a hint of a Southern drawl. He's the perfect foil to Jack's uptight New Yorker character. I really like the character even tho I disagree with him politically on most things... because he just oozes integrity.
Thompson is also a former senator for Tennessee. He's got political experience. He's a household face if not name, and his tv character is well liked. (And people have been known to vote on less substantial things than that; plus I think his character really does reflect his views.) I honestly thought he had a shot. It of course depends on how much a strangle-hold the religious right still has on the GOP. btw, I'm too lazy to start a new thread on this but kudos to Rudy for not rolling over - he's still adamantly pro-choice. Now that's a mensch!

I happen to be a huge fan of Fred Thompson. It appears likely he will run for POTUS. He has a strong chance. There isn't a GOP candidate with true conservative values running. I'd bet he polls very strong.

I think he's running for Vice President personally.

This is going to be the most interesting election of all time. I don't believe there will be just one late hat in the ring either.
