I agree. His explanation was as moronic as the statement. I just really can't believe he meant what it sounded like he said. I don't know what he was trying to say, but I think he should just say sorry and shut up.

Maybe we should start organizing marches of Mormons on his front lawn to demand the apology.

I have tried very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt and try and figure out what he meant if he didn't mean "Mormon's don't really believe in God". I honestly can't figure out what else he could have meant.

The only reason I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt is because he was debating an athiest. It could almost make sense. If he did mean Hitchens he needs to go back to grammar school for a brush up on the English language.

But, even then it doesn't make sense. Is he saying that the atheists would put Romney in if people who "really" believe in God (possibly including other Mormons) don't stop it? If he was talking about Hitchens the "really" makes absolutely no sense. Hitchens doesn't claim to believe in God at all - so it's obvious he doesn't "really" believe in God.

They tend to blanket an area with their entire congregation. We usually only have 1 pair of missionaries to an area. In other words, if you have someone knock on your door to talk religion it is more likely that it is a JW than it is a Mormon, but the probability that it is a Mormon is still significantly greater than 0.
