All politicians pander. It's part of the game. Don't tell me you don't think that he's the only politician that is pandering. You just don't agree with him so it makes him a good target.

No, I don't think he's the only politician pandering. I do think he's changed his positions more drastically than other politicians who are running for president this year. I think it's sad that he felt he had to go from a more inclusive view he held before to the narrow view of the Religious Right just to have a shot at getting the GOP nomination. (Unless you think that he wasn't truly pro-choice before or pro-BGLT rights before, which raises a different set of concerns.)

If he had switched in the other direction, I would be questioning that too, for I would wonder if he could be trusted. It is you who is saying that you are happy to accept things that seem to go your way and to target things that go against you without thought to the bigger picture.

What is the critieria you are using to measure the level of change in Romney's positions? Forgive me if I believe it is completely subjective and that someone who doesn't like him probably isn't the best source to make such a subjective judgment.

As for going from a more inclusive to a less inclusive view, I agree that if it's true it is sad, but I'm not convinced that his positions on gay rights have changed all that much.

I also don't believe that pro-choice to pro-life is going from more inclusive to less inclusive. In fact, it's probably the other way around. Now he's including the rights of unborn infants. I don't think Romney wants abortion to be completely illegal. I think he just wants to limit it to extreme cases. Abortion should not be used as backup birth control.

The same could be said for John Kerry, and yet you had no problem with that. Or is it only objective when you agree with it and subjective when you disagree.

And I don't dislike Mitt. That's your subjective opinion based on the fact that you do like him.

I had a problem with saying that Romney was a bigger flip-flopper than Kerry. I didn't say anything about my opinion on John Kerry. I think the flip-flopping stuff was just as immature at that time as it is now. (Although, Kerry didn't help by making his infamous "I was before it before I was against it" line. What does that mean anyway?!?).

I don't agree with him politically. That's not the same as disliking him. This may be hard to understand for people who automatically dislike those with whom they disagree.

I think my posts on other RF threads about Romney speak for themselves. Period.
