I would speculate (as I am not gay) that gay and lesbian people probably care about the health and well-being of their mothers, sisters, and daughters (Yes, some gay people do have children of their own before "coming out"). It would be selfish to think (or foolish to believe) that homosexuality promotes utter indifference regarding social issues, or their impacts upon personal relationships.

[On a side note, it's be pleasant to think that every citizen might be concerned enough to ensure that individual liberties are respected/defended, and constitutional protections are preserved in equity for us all. My question would be, "Why shouldn't/wouldn't gays and lesbians engage the issues of abortion choice?"]

I don't understand why the government is with holding marriage from same sex couples without a legitimate legal argument to do so.

All this proves is that those in positions of power and privilege do not cede their power and privilege easily. It says nothing about what is the right thing to do.

Are you seriously suggesting that BGLT should take up arms for equality? On the one hand, they are criticized for saying or doing anything. Otoh, they are criticized for expecting equality without having to "sacrifice" for it. Why should they have to sacrifice for it? What did you sacrifice in order to get your privileges? What about recognizing honestly that there is inequality and that it is wrong and making it right?
