It would be more hilarious if it weren't what was really happening. Please! The pages egging the Congressman on? Blaming it on the Democrats?

Do the Democrats have their own issues? You betcha. However, Studds, Frank and later Clinton were honest and said they did wrong. (Yes, clinton lied at first-no question there.) However, have we yet heard anyone say "I take responsibility for my actions (or inactions in the case of Hastert and some others)." Nope and they are SO busy bashing the pages and Democrats that they really think no one will notice.

Don't turn it into something political? HA! It IS political, and the Repugs are in a spit about it, because they know their holier than thou demeanor is worth nothing now. They are taking stances like Bush does all the time, never, ever admitting to a mistake (not that this doesn't rank much higher than a mistake.) Don't get me started....my list is VERY long.

You know, I hope everyone on here who is able to vote in U.S. elections does so, however they vote. It is time for Americans to wake up and particiapte and monitor their government. We should be ashamed at our participation record and what it has yielded.

You know, there's a Cafe Bill Gates in Sarajevo and it's right next to Ferhadija mosque and, somehow (don't ask me to explain it), this somehow resulted in an anti-Bill Gates backlash in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. There were even magazine covers of him dressed like Adolf Hitler leading a flock of geeky computer programmers.

Then the move Kill Bill came out, so every street in Sarajevo had that movie's poster with Bill Gate's head on Uma Thurman's body.

But you know, all is forgiven (All of what, I still don't know, but whatever it is, it's forgiven).

But on to the OP, I've been watching the efforts to yet again blame everything on the other party with some interest, but no surprise.

Yesterday one of ABCs reporters challenged the idea that Democratic Party was behind the whole thing by pointing out that every single one of his sources was Republican.

Would that the rest of the media delve into the realm of facts, instead of just repeating stuff uncritically.

While there is an element of hilarity in this latest carnival freak show, I have to say it only serves to point out yet again how useless, if not harmful, political parties have become.

Imagine how this whole thing would have played out if there were no parties.

Oh, I expect there would still be a media circus. Let's face it, any time sex is involved there's a media circus.

But rather than engage in finger pointing, there might be an investigation into how this got missed and maybe some solutions on how to prevent this sort of thing in the future.

The focus now is not on dealing with the problem. It's definitely on damage control.
