Could someone please tell me exactly who is protected by these so called "Marriage Protection" amendments and acts?
All I see these amendments are is disrimination against and hatred for same gender couples. No one is protected by these amendments, people are only hurt. Why is discrimination and hatred being written into our states constitutions?

Marriage is in no danger. It's as popular as ever.
Those proposing protection amendments are paranoid and out-of-touch. |

The legislators are just posturing for right-wing support. They know perfectly well the while issue's ridiculous.

Personally, I think that a lot of the people pushing for admendments like these are really in denial. And what better way to cover up your 'dirty little secret' then by insisting real hard that you're not 'different'. [sarcasm] Because heaven forbid we have different types of people on this Earth. [/sarcasm]
Granted of course that this does not account for everyone pushing these admendments, I don't even want to know what's going through their minds when they do. |

Who is protected.....well.....actually only the people who keep others following them through fear and hate mongering (politician, some religious leaders) and those who like feeling superior (since they have a right others do not.) Marriage is not at all affected by this, as it is more popular than ever, but also so is the divorce rate (about 50%). So, I would say straight people do need marriage protected but from themselves, as they have managed to screw it up rather well without any help from gays or anyone else.
Are the people who actually are protected by this activity ones we really want to protect? ![]() |
