The only case I know of was a leader who was a college student and an Eagle Scout who was given the boot when someone noticed him in the crowd at a gay pride parade. That would have been in the early 90s, I think. It made quite a stink in the news at the time, because the leader took pains not to bring up his orientation when with the Scouts. It would be inappropriate to have those kinds of discussions anyway, no matter what your orientation.

Oh, I meant to ask, I gather from another comment you made that Boy Scouts also has a rule that requires two adults to be present during meetings?

Girl Scouts has this as well, and it's there to protect all parties involved against pedophilia, other forms of abuse, and so forth. It's not foolproof, but it seems to work pretty well from what I've seen.

I suggest you do some more religious research on this one, CK. Homosexuality "the orientation" has not been generally considered immoral. It's the practice of homosexuality that has been considered immoral by religions. If someone is gay and chaste, I can't imagine why the BSA considers them not good enough for Boy Scouts, when religions do, except for a very few fringe elements who are insecure about their own manhood.

Now, I don't care if someone is gay. I don't care if they marry. What I question is whether its right to criticize the boy scouts for their policy regarding gay members. They're only exercising their right to declare homosexuality immoral just as gays will declare pedophilia immoral.
