One might ask the same of the "Occupy", um, err, "movement", Phil.
Given that it is now two months since these intellectually challenged individuals started their "protest", we have not heard a single official idea emerging from them. I am a part of the so-called 99% and these people sure as hell do not speak for me. I'm more inclined to label them the < .05% lunatic fringe and quite unworthy of any further attention.

The way these people are pushing back is not exactly in the right direction, if they want more and better paying jobs, they should be lobbying Washington to make changes, not protesting banks who get their permission slips from Washington to manhandle Wall Street like it was their brothel. Are they hoping if they protest enough they'll stop misbehaving? What exactly are they expecting to happen anyway? Are they hoping for it to turn into riots or something? Don't they find it odd that Leftist Billionaires and North Korea are both supporting their cause officially? Last edited by Shermana; 11-20-2011 at 07:32 PM.. |

I would go for trade barriers and reasonable regulation as far as safety and security goes. Otherwise the goverment really needs to butt out of free enterprise and let the market innovate and grow like it was allowed to in the past rather than trying to run and control things they know nothing about.
As it turns out as I see it, excessive and unreasonable regulation and litigation is a prime cause of the loss of our previous ability to self-sustain ourselves and as a result has artificially created a dependence on foreign products for our needs. This forced companys to look elsewhere outside the U.S. This is because complience issues get ever increasingly expensive and restrictive with no end in sight. The corporations discovered they liked the lower overhead and easier regulation elsewhere and obviously profits *soared. Unfortunately common Joe Schmuck back in the U.S. is left out of a previously good paying job as a result of all this while it's givin to a cheaper counterpart in another country. *Sad we couldnt keep that here.

The OWS is toppling the government? Really? Where? I must be out of the loop.

OWS is part of a bigger picture that includes the Arab Spring, Green Revolution, the unrest in Greece, etc. It's early days yet, and these things take time.
