Lets take a look at the employment situation in our country right now,(USA).
Unemployment is running about 10%, (I'm rounding numbers). Most likely it is around 20%, but 10% of people have quit even looking for a job right now. I believe there are five groups of employees. 20% are honest hard working people who almost never miss work. 20% are honest hard working people who miss work too often. 20% are hard working, but are not completely honest and miss work regularly. 20% do not work that hard and are not honest and miss work regularly. 20% are lazy, dishonest and seldom come to work. I believe if there where more jobs out there, the lowest the unemployment figure would be is 5%. I guess what I am saying is, the business world has been getting more work done lately with less people to stay profitable. I believe it will be hard for the uneducated, dishonest, unskilled, lazy worker to cut it in the current business environment. The last time they had a job, less was expected from them. The American worker has stepped it up a notch and I really wonder if many of the unemployed will be able to keep a new job if they are lucky enough to get hired in the future. I guess my question is, does anyone think it will ever be possible for our country to have 100% employment? Will all of these employees be productive enough to enjoy full benefits in the future? Right now, Health insurance can cost a family 25,000.00 a year. A single person's health insurance can be 10,000.00 a year. A single person's insurance costs an employer around 5 dollars an hour. A married person's insurance can cost around 12.50 an hour. When you factor in unemployment insurance, workman's compensation, matching social security and medicare, these figures can easily exceed the hourly rate you pay a person. 40-60% of your employees are easily worth these figures and can be profitable for an employer to employ them. Many of the people at the bottom of the food chain would not be worth it to an employer to pay for benefits even if they where to work for free, especially if they had a family. My second question is, could there be a time when single people are more sought after as employees because of their reduced benefit expenses? From my perspective, I see unemployment rising in the future, not getting better. What say you?

70% are honest hard working people who almost never miss work. 20% are honest hard working people who miss work occasionaly. 5% are hard working, are honest but miss work regularly. 3% do not work that hard and are not honest and miss work regularly. 2% are lazy, dishonest and seldom come to work. The last two groups do not stay employed in my business for any length of time.

100% employment is impossible. But if we had it, I'd see it as a symptom of trouble. A healthy economy is always changing & adjusting, so a mobile work
force is essential. 100% employment would make it difficult for the most competitive businesses to expand, which would impose inefficiency & slow growth. Besides, there'll always be guys like Mball could never find a........just kidding! |

Reinforces my view that 90% of business people should be approached with suspicion. I pulled my figures from my ***. Where'd you get yours? |

It seems about like this in real estate management & maintenance.
20% are honest hard working people who almost never miss work. 20% are honest hard working people who miss work occasionaly. 5% are hard working, are honest but miss work regularly. 50% do not work that hard and are not honest and miss work regularly. 5% are lazy, dishonest and seldom come to work.[/quote] The numbers are skewed to look bad by maintenance staff. So many troubles with them.....posting bail so they can come to work, police stake-outs looking for wife-beaters, stealing tools/supplies, stealing from tenants, time-card theft, drunkenness, hangovers, more hangovers, etc, etc. I could re-jigger these numbers all day, but they'll never be quantitative....they just convey a subjective impression. Can anyone say that their entire workforce is honest? If so, do you have a time clock?
