I'm not a big fan of derisive sexually oriented names, but just examining fairness & social convention.

As others have pointed out, those slack-jawed yokels gave themselves that name, proving how oblivious such people are to the obvious. These people have a habit of demonstrating their lack of intelligence. They toss around terms like "communism" and "fascism" while clearly demonstrating that they have no idea what those terms even mean. If they were truly worried about crime, corruption, abuse of power, incompetence, dwindling freedoms, over-spending, etc. going on in Washington then where were these people when Bush was in office? The right wing movement in the U.S. caters exclusively to the interests and agendas of rich white christian males.

Well, maybe because they're such good, wholesome bumpkins, the sexual context of the phrase never dawned on them. We're talking about people who probably have sex fully clothed in the dark, and only for baby making.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are honest, intelligent folk in the movement, but they're the exception to the rule. Most are people who would follow a chimp, spastically flailing about a bible in one paw and an American flag in the other, right over a cliff. People who eagerly swallow the most horrific ideas if you rap them up in a nice religious and/or patriotic package. It's easier for people to "follow their heart" when all that brain stuff takes too much effort, especially when it challenges their preconceived notions that give them comfort (ignorance is bliss, and all that).

I'm not asking you to vote for them. I'm just curious why such an epithet is
found acceptable by those who tout themselves as "tolerant" & "progressive".
