I can't seem to be able to find a name for exactly what I believe in. So I thought I would try to outline it a little in a bunch of different places and see if people have any ideas. Please help me!

- I definetly believe in reincarnation: I believe that what you do n this life effects the type of life that you have once your spirit moves on (karma!).
- I believe that you work in this life in order to 'get off' the reincarnation wheel. You do this because in each life you are sent to earth to learn a lesson that pertains to the zodiac sign that you were born under. If you learn that lesson then you move onto the next zodiac sign to learn its lesson. Once you get through all 12 of the signs then you move up to become a more enlightened figure such as Buddah or the christian God.
- I DO NOT believe that God/Jesus are the creators of mankind and are our salvation. I believe only we hold our own salvation.
- I believe in evolution and almost all sciectific theory.
- I believe in meditiation and the power of the third eye in the form of better seeing in the universe. I also believe in the power of tarot cards, palmstery, astrology, all paranormal life forms (bigfoot, aliens, cuban goat sucker, etc.), all telecenetic powers, and such.
- I don't think you should oppose to annother's religious beliefs and I believe in the Native American totem system (I am a buffalo) and their ways as being sacred.
- I oppose the prayer to gods and religious figures ad I believe that you should not pray to Buddah as he was not a god, your goal is to become enlightened in this life, not be saved by some god.
- I think all religious texts are liturature and are simply someone's opinion to be added to your own in order to further your own beliefs. They are not sacred and should not be taken at face value as a give-in.
- I believe that nonviolence is key and that war is bad but that martial arts are also essential and that learning one makes you mentally stronger and a better person.
- I believe in the power ofthe yin-yang and that life flows in a circle.
- I meditate.
- I believe in the validity of dreams, I analyize them and often they predict what is going to happen to me before it does by sometimes three days sometimes less.
- I believe completely in the philiosophy that is presented in the movie the Matrix
- I also believe in other philosophers (either in their entierty or in parts) such as the blank slate theory and the idea that the world is different for each person because we see it differently (like color blind people nd such).

I guess that's a short list, I know that I will think of more and post them later. I thought for a long time I was mostly buddhist with many other philisophical ideas poured in but sine doing some research I have found that I also have traits of Taeoist and Hindu religions. I am not looking to become one single hardcore religion, I just want a vaigue idea of what I might be. Help me if you can! Thank you.

Minority,

Why do you want a label for yourself? Just accept your beliefs and call them your religion. I am quite happy to describe my philosophy of life as a mixture of classical Taoism, the old Buddhism (for added non-violence but minus reincarnation) and a dash of Sikhism (for its very clear, outspoken and practiced equality between people of different sexes, colours, social standings etc.). That works fine for me.

Sounds to me that you are just like many new agers out there. You take what you like from different religions and mold them together. Which is definitely a good thing. I am like yourself on many of the things you presented. I say that I am Taoist, Zen Buddhist, Native American Shamanist, and Mystic. But those words can never sum it all up. But most importantly is that you know what you are, now you are just seeking to describe it. Which is better than using words to help discover what you are. Good luck with your search for enlightenment.

Now, this is not to be critical, but what exactly is the philosphy presented in The Matrix? Don't get me wrong, I have hit Cthulhu up for favors, and it seems to work as well as anything. Just curious, because all I picked up on was that kicking butt gets things done, and MAN does trinity have a big chin. It is positively Bruce Campbell-like in it's dimensions...

The original idea for the philosophy in the matrix is the dream theory. That we are all in someone's dream. And they just haven't woken up yet. Thats the very basic philosophy in it. It's a pretty old one too.

Hrm, yes. I am familiar witht that one. Variations about God's dream, etc... I was taking it a little more literally and wondering about a disturbing We Are All Trapped In A Giant Grid Being Used As Duracells type philosophy.
That is an old philosophy, but I would say the matrix movies conveyed it in a typical pop mentality, which is to say:shallow and bereft of it's heart.

Well of course they made it new and modern to make it understandable and catchy for people in todays technologically advanced world. But the basis of the matrix is the dream theory.
