Default Can someone help me?!

Hey minority,

be like me- I list my religion as 'my own' after having seen it quoted as such by another member of R.F(I can't remember whom)
It strikes me that it is all too easy to waste time trying to 'put a label' to our individual faiths, when we could be using that energy to learn more?

The Matrix is one of the coolest movies ever, and not just because of the special effects and Keanu Reeves.

The movie actually references different religions, but the most obvious would be Hinduism and Gnostic christianity.

Hinduism
- reality is not what we perceive it to be.
- one must follow one's dharma.

Gnostic christianity
- the universe was created by a defective deity, the Demiurge (Architect), who thinks that he's the supreme being. But there is something greater.
- Morpheus is John the Baptist, making way for the One, a prophesied savior
- (Neo is the One spelled backwards)
- Neo dies and is ressurected. Only thru his death and ressurection is he able to save the world.
IIRC, Neo dies in front of room number 333. The movie is full of cool little details like that. (Too bad the sequels sucked so badly.)

More important than any of the above, the Matrix posits that the most important thing to a human being is freedom of choice. Without choice, the human mind rebelled, no matter how realistic the simulation, and the system crashed. Only with choice, or the perception of choice, could we accept the simulated world of the Matrix.

I can't seem to be able to find a name for exactly what I believe in. So I thought I would try to outline it a little in a bunch of different places and see if people have any ideas. Please help me!

- I definetly believe in reincarnation: I believe that what you do n this life effects the type of life that you have once your spirit moves on (karma!).
- I believe that you work in this life in order to 'get off' the reincarnation wheel. You do this because in each life...etc etc

I had a hard time figuring out a name for what I wanted to teach. I love things about every religion.

Taoism, the philosophy is so true, I agree with almost everything.
Pagan, reverance for nature, and spirits
Shaman, abilities to deal with the spirits
Zen, ways to get past the illusions of the world and understand what really matters by meidtation
Buddhism, be awake and aware
Christianity, love and forgiveness
Shinto, understanding that there is a gateway between the physical and spirit worlds, yet they are one in the same.
Druid, reverence of the moon and nature, mostly trees.
Gypsy, its my heritage and also their shamanistic practices and belief in charms and such

In a dream I remember looking through a dictionary and looking at the V's. I remember seeing a bunch of V words but only one stuck out in my mind. Vigil. I read that and realized that is exactly what I am. I am awake and aware to nature's way, the way of the spirits, our place in this way, and the way one can understand this way so to fit better in it to relieve stress and anxiety. So thats what did it. I am, a Vigil. And I teach, spiritual Vigilance.

A name for what you believe in... How about Naive? Its got a sophisticated foreign aire and hasn't been taken by any other religion I've heard of.
The philosophy presented in the movie, Desi. Not the events of the movie literally. The philosophy behind the "Matrix" was there long before the movie. If you want to learn more, go to www.philosophers.co.uk. Especially learn more before condemning a man merely because he believes something you don't.
