III. Modern Movements
The Worldwide Church of God and Christian Identity are the fruits of British-Israelism. The former group is relatively benign, and has recently repudiated the key ideas of British-Israelism; the latter group has harnessed British-Israelism to support its racist and anti-Semitic doctrine. |

Had a brief look Becky. There are many references within British thought, culture, tradition that will support your post, of which I will name a few. There is the whole Glastonbury Myth, where Joseph of Arimethea travels to Britain with a rose from Golgotha post the last supper. There is a rose still in the Abbey of Glastonbury today which is known as the Glastonbury Thorn. It is said that Joseph came to Britain to trade for the tin that was mined in Cornwall. A secondary feature supporting contact with the Levant is the cornish name for James which is Jago/Iago. This name is said to be Phoenician , again having come to Britian via the mediterranean as a result of the tin trade. The name Iago is also found in Spain as in Santiago (Saint James). The words to the 'hymn' Jerusalem written by William Blake allude to the myth that Jeheshuah during the 'missing years' may have travelled with Joseph of Amrimthea in his capacity as a tradesman opening with the famous words "And did those feet in ancient time". Then there is the use of the 'word' of the 'royal arch' of masonry which is often reported as Jah Baal On, which is often thought a blasphemy by the uninitiated, but Zebulun to the those with knowledge, and from this tribe it is thought that many Hebrew sea farers came.
It is of course vital to point out that this school of thought has NOTHING to do with the Zionist political movement, though attempts have been made to hijack it toward that end.

I would point out to Baha`i's there was no "Great Disappointment" of 1844. They just did not look far enough to find the fulfillment in Persia with the Declaration of the Bab on May 23rd, 1844 CE (1260 AH).
That proviso set aside, the British - Israelite movement really was hijacked by the anti-Semitic wing, and as such is mostly gone. Regards, Scott Regards, Scott
