hello, my friend 'Anon' - I must point out that we are not at all keen on new people introducing themselves with just a link to a website; before we go any further, perhaps you would be good enough to introduce yourself, and tell us why you joined the forum.
I have never heard about 'Dormism' , and from a cursory look, it sounds... different (and that is not judgementalism). Please introduce yourself, and tell us that you are nort merely advertizing your site on this one. ![]()

Everyone sleeps. Presumably everyone's psyche is "adjusted" every night.
Why do we wake with the same divisive attitudes and prejudices we went to sleep with, then? |

My introduction - I'm 30 years old, and I am an Atheist. I read the postings on this site often, because I find religion very interesting. But I never posted anything before.
I am friends with the owner of dormism.com, but I am not advertising - I don't make any money. I don't think my friend does either - there are no advertisements on the site. I think that Dormism makes more sense than most other religions though. For example, I am pretty sure that nobody is communicating with me while I am concious. So IF, and I stress IF, there is any communication between a higher being and myself, it would make sense that it would be while I am asleep. Plus, this explains dreams, instinct in animals, and also why people need to sleep. In response to Seyorni, I would say that people do wake up with different ideas and attitudes than the ones they went to sleep with. But usually not radically different. Perhaps someone goes to sleep with a plan for what needs to be done the next day, but when they wake-up, they have a slightly different point of view, and modify their plan. Dormists believe that people have free will, and that people's dreams have only a limited affect on their behavior - similar to one's parent giving them advise - it may have a deep impact on them, or it may have no effect whatsoever. |

"Simply put, Dormism is the belief that our behavior is modified by a higher power while we are sleeping." <yawn> OK </yawn>

I must admit that I tend to see sleep as the mind's 'self defragmentation' mechanism (as in computers); making sense of the day's events, and subconsciously working out the following day's moves.

Good question. I always assumed it would be one God.
But like I said, I'm an Atheist. |
