I really don't view it as trying to replace someone. Then again, I'm not a fan of "jr". I like the idea of honoring someone by using part of their name. My first daughter was named "Danielle" because my father's name is Danny. Not posthumous, but still named after. If this child is a boy he will be Thomas Graham (Thomas for Tim's father and Graham for my grandfather) if a girl she will be Alexis Marie (Marie being a take on Mary...my grandmother).
