You have mentioned being scientific. Do you find any tension between a scientific outlook and your beliefs? Do they overlap or are they dealing with entirely different questions?

Good question! One I was waiting for

Sometimes there is some tension, but most of the time there isn't. I sometimes find myself separating my spiritual side from my scientific side, but not always. In most cases, I am able to blend the two quite nicely (I think, anyway). The scientific side usually comes first, and the spiritual side complements it.

For example, ornithology (study of birds) is my specialty, the Common Loon in particular. The calls of the loons range from greeting other loons to driving out other birds from their territory; the Native Americans of the area also believed that the call of the loon carried their prayers up to the gods.

When trying to find answers to those difficult questions, I try to look at things from both perspectives. Sometimes those answers come in either the scientific realm, or just the spiritual, both of none. I remember that both science and spirituality are constantly changing and that though I may not have an answer now, that doesn't mean that there isn't an answer. Unlike other people, I'm comfortable with unanswered questions. I accept that they are unanswered as of now.

Muhaha I bet you thought you had answered all the questions i could ask but you were wrong :P

Do you think people treat you differently when they find out you are pagan. ie do they treat you like a tree hugging hippy (STEREOTYPE ALERT)
Do you prefer a normal or diagonal hug?
Do you think being a pagan changed you hug prefrences?
Do you prefer dark, white or milk chocolate?

Has you belief influenced you in the Coke or Pepsi war?

Only one person has really treated me differently, and oddly she's my oldest friend. She's Methodist and a devout one at that. She thinks this is a phase, and often says "I'll get you back." She insists on quoting scripture whenever I talk to her about some hard times I'm going through, or when I have any sort of lifestyle question. So now I don't really talk about such things with her.

Hehe, it's kinda funny, a couple of years ago she started sending me Christian e-cards for her holidays. I would delete them and be on my way. She finally stopped sending them when I started sending e-cards for the Wiccan holidays

Hmm... after careful consideration, I think the normal hug.

Quote:

I don't think so, but I have gotten more hugs since I became pagan ::thinks about this correlation::

WHITE!!! I don't care if it has no actual chocolate in it!

Lol! I used to swear by Diet Pepsi (GC can vouch for that one!) but I've switched out of that completely because of the aspertame. I now drink Weight Watchers caffeine free Diet Cola sweetened with Splenda. Although the great Goddess Caffeina doesn't much like it, I feel a lot better since making the switch.

That's hard for me to say, really. I think I've always been leaning left on the political scale, but I went to an environmental college with a starting focus on Wildlife Conservation (I later changed to just Wildlife) and I became pagan there. I found those things (environmentalism, equality for both humans and animals, various religious rights) to be very important in my life and I happened to find a belief system to match.

Quote:

I'd love to be more politically active, but at the moment I don't have the means. Having just graduated from college, I'm trying to find my footing; though once I do I want to be more active.

Quote:

Not really, like I said above, I found the things most pagans find important, important to me. It just fit so well, I didn't have to change much, if anything.

Anything that grows, all plants need the sun to photosynthesize, after all

I do! And it's delicious.
