What are the different types of Paganism practiced by the members at RF? Could you tell me about them? Why did you choose that path?

I practice Asatru, which really probably won't fit in much with other types you'll find on here. In fact, we have a seperate forum here, but it mostly goes inactive.
Asatru is a reconstruction of the paganism of the Germanic peoples (Scandinavians and Germans and such). Ancestry makes up a significant chunk of the faith, and there is a big focus on folk and family. Some chief gods and goddesses are: Odin, Thor, Tyr, Loki (although he's not the type to be worshipped), Baldr, Freyr, Freya, and Frigga. There is piles of info in the Norse Mythology and Asatru sections. I chose it because the mythology is awesome and given where I come from it just sort of fits.

I practice Falcian Necromancy, you won't find much about it on here. the only real source of info for it on RF would be this thread and an off-site source is the Ars Falcis. now, if you have any more specific questions, just ask.

I'm as eclectic as one can get
I borrow from so many cultures, religions and my own ideas mixed together to something that works, amazingly. I'm considering losing the "Wicca" part of my label, because I don't feel that there's much Wicca in it. My ceremonies and absolute basics are Seax-Wican but that's pretty much it.I follow two main Gods, one of life and one of death. This was the dichotomy that I can best put myself behind. I don't know what else to say, if you have any more specific questions, or anyone for that matter, please don't hesitate! I love answering questions about my beliefs.

I would describe myself as a Kemetic Pagan, which basically means I follow a reconstruction of the Ancient Egyptian religion. Right now I only pray to one goddess, and that is Aset (Isis). I feel like I was "pushed" into this religion by Aset, like she just really wanted me to honor her. I'm influenced by the Kemetic Orthodoxy tradition, which can be found here: http://www.kemet.org
Actually, I would completely dedicate myself to that tradition, but it's very community oriented and I'm a solitary-type person.

I was going to try to explain what it is that I believe, but it is just easier in the long run to say "Wicca" and be done with it.

I'm Kemetic Orthodox, you can find out more about it at Kemet.org as Lemon said above
The Gods (or Netjeru) that are formost in my heart and worship are Wepwawet, Bast-Mut and Ptah, but I worship all Netjer. Any questions, ask away! |

when i first looked into Paganism, it was through a good friend of mine who had been Pagan for years. she was Wiccan, and her patron was Hecate, the Crone face of the Triple Goddess (which can be one of many Goddesses, but for her it is Hecate)
i liked a lot of the religious ceremony and magic style, and i started looking into the various Gods and Goddesses, and i took Hecate on as my patron Goddess as well - and i sincerely hope she is pleased with me ![]() anyway, after looking over Wicca, i didn't like the set way the Lord and Lady were believed to be, i had a different look on it which was certainly not a Wiccan one, at least as i understood it. so i started looking at wider Paganism. i came across Crowley, and it was from Crowley that i looked at the Golden Dawn. it made more sense to look further into Crowley than the Golden Dawn because of the political scrapings in the Golden Dawn as opposed to relatively politic-free stuff that the Crowley's works had, seeing as i wanted to look into religion, not dead politics. i'm still working on my religion, i don't know where it will go, as Crowley used the Egyptian Pantheon and i feel connected to the Greek one - i may translate the Egyptian Gods into the Greek ones, like Thoth/Hermes etc. i still need to research further into the meditation and yoga and trance states behind both Wiccan and Thelemic magic before i progress further, and i am finding it a sticking point.... but i will overcome it eventually, and it will all be worth it. so in summary, my religion is still being discovered, and i am choosing to discover it because i am great full of the personal growth and insight i have already gained, and am anxious to learn and develop further. ![]()
