This is also a good example of why I don't generally support state's rights. If we were to give individual states the power to make decisions involving fundimental rights in this country, the laws in states like North Carolina would become expressions of the Christian bigotry of it's majority population. Basic individual rights have to be protected nationally exactly because they are often so unpopular locally.
I think the suggestion of notifying the ACLU is an excellent idea. This is exactly the kind of case they take on, not because they hate Christians (as so many Christians presume) but because they are charged with protecting the minority from the power of the majority. I've been looking, and I can't find any information on this case other than at other pagan sites. Can someone point me to a link? (I'm not saying it didn't happen or couldn't happen, I'm just having trouble finding it.)

This happened in 2006 I'm not sure what the outcome ( if there is one yet) is.
I only have a link to it because I belong to a group that is based here in South Carolina I'm don't know if these people are a part of our group. We're having a gathering next Saturday & the head of the group is going to hand out the address so that we can write to the courthouse to protest this. If you want I'll get it for those of you who wish to have a say in this. Florence is a small town of about 150,000 people which means it's small enough to cover something like this up.

I remember Florence well. (I used to live in McCall, Clio and eventually Columbia.)
It just puzzles me that there hasn't been more of an outcry- Pagans tend to be well-versed on their civil rights and know they can contact the UCLA and whatnot. Believe me, if it has happened, I'll be sending out a very strongly worded letter!

There was a PPD Pagan Pride Day here before we moved here & there were some Pagan's who too scared to come out of the broom closet so to speak. Again this is the south some people here have never heard of religous tolerance & could careless what it stands for.
Remember that story I posted about my wife's aunt?
