God Worshippers (ritual, tradition, choice, pagans, faith)

I'm curious of the Pagan traditions how many of you are a "God Worshipper"? In the "Ritual Question" thread, Gentoo mentioned she worships the God; which in my view is very rare of Pagans/Wiccans.

So, if she doesn't mind, I do have some questions.

• Why the God? (I know you've said it before, but I thought I'd make a specific thread about this so that people know!)
• What sort of connection do you feel to the God?
• When did you start worshipping this God? Do you find him to be similar to the Abrahamic God?
• What faith did you come from before, and do you think this influenced your choice to worship the masculine side of Paganism/Wicca?
• What is your favorite ritual involving the God to perform?
• Anything else you would like to share (feelings, pictures, links, etc)

I do because because it feels right, I find it really hard to relate to the Goddess and it wouldn't be right to try and force one.

What sort of connection do you feel to the God?

The same connection that anyone feels towards their god, I don't know how else to explain that...

When did you start worshipping this God?

I don't know if I can really pinpoint the start, but it was just a few months ago when everything sort of came together and it was apparent then that I do worship the sun god, and had been for years without realizing it.

Do you find him to be similar to the Abrahamic God?

Not really, but I have some bitter feelings toward the Abrahamic god.

What faith did you come from before, and do you think this influenced your choice to worship the masculine side of Paganism/Wicca?

I was raised Catholic, but I don't think that had a huge influence over what I believe now. I worship the masculine side because I don't feel the feminine side in me very much. I know what it means to be a man, but I don't know what it means to be a woman without resorting to 1950's type thinking. Even though I am female, a lot of times I don't feel it. Guitar's Cry often says that I have the mind of a male but the body of a female, and I like that.

What is your favorite ritual involving the God to perform?

I like both solstices. The summer is when his strength is greatest and I feel his influence the strongest, and winter because he is reborn, and that's a big cause for celebration

Anything else you would like to share (feelings, pictures, links, etc)

Actually, I don't know if this is the right place to say it, but it gets extremely annoying to see the God being, not ignored but not being held in the same esteem as the Goddess. I like to window shop online for ritual tools and things of that nature, and I see mountains of things depicting the Goddess and a small handful or none at all depicting the God. It gets frustrating.

Also, there's this assumption that Pagan (Wicca's even worse with this sometimes) is synonymous with Goddess-only-worship. People on RF have seen my religion title as Eclectic Wicca and then say something like: "since you're Wiccan and know lots about the Goddess, how about telling me about the God instead?" It was that stereotype that made me change that to Daughter of the Sun. This is unbalance is a touchy sunject for me, and a lot of times I fly off the handle when I see it, in either direction. While I may be a God-worshipper now, I strive for balance and to find that femininity that I need to achieve it. Perhaps one day, I'll find it.

In Wicca, the God usually takes the form of the Horned God. He was/is horned to show his relationship with the animals, mainly those humans would hunt. This can be dated back to hunter gatherer/early farmer tribes of Europe. Back then the relationship to the Goddess was to the land, growing their food, and the God for hunting. That was the balance of the day.

I got most of that from a book, Raymond Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft. I haven't really found a decent website that offers a history as well, beyond Wicca that is.
