Gay witchcraft? (rituals, tradition, homosexuality, attend, pagan)

At the last meeting our group had someone wanted to know about gay witchcraft, I don't care what your sexual prefence are but this sounds like someone made this up just to be different. Any thoughts on this? Before the other night I never knew it mattered what your prefence was as far has witchcraft goes...

It's not about sexual preference so much as finding your place in your religion. Heterosexuals tend to overlook the general struggles of homosexual people, even in a religion as open as forms of paganism. In Wicca, you have one Goddess and one God who copulate. If this is what you believe and are also gay, one can often wonder where they fall into place if even the gods are heterosexual, in general of course.

I've heard good things about this book: Gay Witchcraft: Empowering the Tribe by Christopher Penczak. Maybe you should look it up.

Well, I personally have wondered about this. When I was Wiccan (and even now as I still observe the quarters), I noticed the emphasis on balance between male and female. Air/intellect/male. Water/emotion/female. etc. It worked for me as a straight feminist. But I also realized that implicit in this is a hetero-centric view. And I wondered how homosexual Wiccans might amend their rituals to better reflect their own view of the world.

traditional Gardnerian wicca was very set in it's roles of male and female, the God and the Goddess have sex and that's the way we should follow. a lot of later reforms of Wicca made the roles of men and women symbolic as opposed to literal, allowing bisexuality, homosexuality and transgenders.

i guess extreme Dianic traditions that are only female attendance would count as a lesbian witchcraft movement.

Crowley went for a lovely argument that the power of gay intercourse in ritual space was intense because of the taboo that surrounds homosexuality. his bisexuality affected his movement certainly, but there is no ground for calling his movement a gay movement.

i'm only expressing my thoughts on the subject here, please no one take me as an authority, but the triple Goddess and double God idea in Wicca in my mind create archtypes of masculinity and feminity. one should be aiming to achieve a balance of all of these archtypes, two (or three, or more ) balanced people in an intimate relationship can cut gender out of the question completely.

Wasn't this about personal taboo? I mean, the extra energy that is generated is because the persons involved are going against what they're personally comfortable with. And so for straight persons, homosexual sex would generate more energy. But not for gay persons. In their case, they would have to engage in heterosexual sex in order to achieve the same effect.
