There were, in fact, 6,000 Greeks defending Thermopolyae, but the Spartans fought the hardest and were among the best trained in Europe, and to this day, take all the glory for it.

True, but toward the end of the fight the main Commander told all man to retreat one unit at a time. In the end only the 300 Spartans(and 1000 other solders), that fight the Persians. I watch a lot of history channel.

I just did a history project in class on leaonidas, i gave credit on the 5200 greeks too.

In the end, it is true that there were only 300 Spartans, but even the movie 300 acknoledged they weren't alone. The idea of the 300 comes from Leaonidas ordering all the other Greeks to leave, which left the Spartans and a few others.
The Spartans also held every advantage possible except for numbers. They had better armor, better equipment, better training, more skillful, topographical, and just about everything else. It mainly came down to a relativly small number of very highly trained full plated armor clad soldiers versus good to average trained light armor clad soldiers. Plate and chain armor will take a pounding, but leather won't.

I have heard people call it a myth. I guess some people here the story of 300 men vs. an army of over a lot(can't remember number right now......5:42 in the morning, hehe).
and think it's a myth because it to cool to be real. Plus some may have read the Frank Miller comic book base and the store and also think it's a myth too.
