Default The Mystic Legends of Gods

I have created this thread for a personal research study upon the Gods that has walked on earth in times gone before.

So far I wish to compile a list of Gods that has appeard in many other religious beliefs in the world. For instance a God believed in one religion has the same charaterictics of another god that is in another religion. Co-incidence or not ? that the topic of discussion.

If you can discover a god in your religion that greatly resembles another god from another religion, Pls hilite it in here for discussion. Your help in making my reasearch is greatky appreciated. Tq.

Default The First Comparison

There is Hawaian patron god called KamaPua'a, he has abody of a humanoid but a head of a boar. There is an exact replica of this god that exist in Hindu belief. The god called VARAHA, is a re-incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu.

What is morst suprising is that Kamapuaa is a god in the hawaian myths that has a head of a boar and carries a mace, similiarly the Hindu God Varaha too has the exact same features.

But there were no such missionaries of india going to hawai, or even vice versa, so how could two very different religions has two uncanny resemblance of a same god ???

Interesting thought isnt it ?

One divine Manifestation is that of Rig (the Manifestation of Heimdall) from Norse Mythology. Rig was a great King who taught wisdom to the people.

Thanks Satan, thats something interesting. Anyways, I anyone of you guys are a fan of Star Wars youd see that there The charcters name are all created with a hint of hinduism, budhhism or a lil bit of other pagan religious beliefs. For instance that Lizard creature used by Obi Wan Kenobi to climb the hil, in Star Wars Revenge of the sith. That creature is called as Boga, which largely similar to he Hindu concept of Bhoga. In sanskrit Bhoga means enjoyment. Perhaps, Obi Wan enjoyed that ride..??? Hmm...That a Wierd thought eh ?

Even more...YODA already has a meaning in Hiduism, Yoddha also means age or to do with time immemorial, Darth Vader, Vader sounds more like Veda. Han Solo, Han in sanskrit means the destroyer. Sith refers to a Sitther, which means a kind of practising sage. Jedism itself is another religion practised in the high mountain top found in Tibet. Farr out but cool. Dontcha ppl think?

Now getting back to the Mystic legends of gods...THe Egyptian god Amman Re, the word Amman refers to the hindu Shakti deity. The Goddess Kali is also closely resmebled as Amman. Quite similiarly the goddess Quan Yin in the buddhism also refers to the Shakti goddess of Lakshmy which is the Hindu Goddess of prosperity and fortune. So therefore there's always many lengends that binds in may different many myths. But the connection remains the same.

1 God that appears in many different facets and features appears in other beliefs as well.

A theory:

After the tower of Babel was destroyed by God, and he confused the tongues of the people, and they spread all over the world, they took their ancient religion(s) mainly Baal worship and the mother-infant goddess-deal with them, and turning from the one true God, made God's and idols for themselves. Many places, when missionaries went in they found the Mother-son idol, much like Mary-Jesus statues in catholicism or Devaki and Crishna, Isis and Horus, Indrani and Child, Isis and Horus, Venus and Jupiter, Ashtoreth and Baal, not to mention Diana, Aphrodite, and Shing Moo. Many similarities due to them all coming from Babylon at one time. Much is made of this in the Bible, especialy the first chapters of Romans. Interesting...
