PLEASE NO SONGS CONTAINING ANY REFERENCES TO SANTA, REINDEER, ELVES, CHRISTMAS TREES, ETC.
I'm not anti-Christmas, but I am anti-Santa and the whole bit, Christmas trees included. These things songs seem to detract me from the Christian intended "reason for the season". I realize this is a Pagan holiday/winter solstice celebration, which was later blended with the Christian celebration/recognition of Christ's birth (which actually occured the first week in September), so no need to fill me in on that or debate it, but if you do want to duscuss this feel free to start a new thread. PLEASE ONLY SONGS REFERRING TO CHRIST, OR GENERIC CHRISTMAS SONGS NOT REFERING TO SANTA, ELVE'S, CHRISTMAS TREES, ETC. (EXAMPLE: OH TANENBAUM). I'm burning a CD to play in one of the restaurants where I work, so I will hear these songs 6 to 12 hours a day repeated over and over and I won't spend another Christmas listening to junk that other's have burned. I'm the night manager and am able to burn and play what I want, to a certain degree. The owners have left that up to me. (yeah !!! )I finally purchased two new computers and have been burning CD's to play at work. It's great and was a great motivator to finally dump my eight year old computers and purchase new ones !!! Here's my Christmas CD as it stands now, but I'm open to song suggestions. Songs in green are some of my top picks. Sleigh Ride ~ Amy Grant Winter Wonderland ~ Jewel Emmanuel God With Us ~ Amy Grant Oh Little Town of Bethlehem ~ Jewel Carol of the Bells ~ Vienna Boys Choir Silent Night ~ Jewel Hark the Harold Angels Sing ~ Mariah Carey Christmas Time is Here ~ Vince Guaraldi Trio (Peanuts ~ A Charlie Brown Christmas) Carol of the Bells ~ Celtic Woman Oh Little Town of Bethlehem ~ Amy Grant Do You Hear What I Hear ~ Destiny's Child (GREAT REMAKE, FIVE STARS) Hark! The Herold Angels Sing ~ Point of Grace Carol of the Bells/What Child is This ~ Point of Grace Skating ~ Vince Guaraldi Trio (Peanuts ~ A Charlie Brown Christmas) Do You Hear What I Hear ~ Whitney Houston What Child is This ~ The Judds Carol of the Bells ~ (Home Alone Soundtrack) Joy to the World ~ Whitney Houston (FIVE STAR RATING FROM MYSELF ON THIS ONE AS WELL) Christmas Time is Here (Vocal) ~ Vince Guaraldi Trio (Peanuts ~ A Charlie Brown Christmas) Joy to the World ~ Mariah Carey Do You Hear What I Hear ~ Perry Como Last edited by FFH; 11-26-2007 at 05:21 AM. |

I notice you've got nothing from John Denver and the Muppets on there. That's a good album. "The Peace Carol" is really beautiful, as is "Noel Christmas Eve, 1913."

The album A Winter Solstice IV. Don't let the name misguide you, it has a lot of instrumental Christmas Carols and is by far my favorite album to play during the holidays. I mean, it has Carol of the Bells with a steel drum AND sounds fantastic!

Lemme recommend 2 of my favorite Christmas arrangements:
Little Drummer Boy by the Harry Simeone chorale Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth by David Bowie and Bing Crosby I don't know if they're on bittorrent, but I'm certain you can buy them on iTunes.

Do Christian folks on RF get songs off of Limewire? You do realize that's copyright infringement and is against the law, right?

On the Carpenters' Christmas album called "Christmas Portrait" there is an absolutely beautiful song called "Christ is Born." You might want to consider including it.
